Ex-Hull City ace continues Derby County rebuild with Tigers old boys
Former Hull City favourite Liam Rosenior is getting part of the old Tigers band back together at Derby County, as the Rams' boss looks to hastily put together a squad. The League One side came out of administration last week after local businessman David Clowes bought the stricken East Midlands outfit, and work is well underway to prepare for the new season having been left with a skeleton squad.
Rosenior, who was appointed as temporary successor to Wayne Rooney following his resignation after the collapse of Chris Kirchner's bid last month, has already snapped up ex-City man James Chester and hopes to bring back Curtis Davies.
Davies, who has been in contact with Tigers bosses over a potential return to the MKM Stadium this summer, looks likely to agree terms on a new contract at Pride Park Stadium.
Chester, who made 171 appearances in the black and amber before moving on to West Brom, left City's Championship rivals Stoke City and has penned a one-year contract with the Rams, who have now signed six players following their much-needed takeover.
Rosenior has added Conor Hourihane, David McGoldrick, Joe Wildsmith, Nataniel Mendez-Laing and Tom Barkhuizen along with Chester and more are expected to follow, and he's been giving his reasons for joining the Rams.
"I know Curtis Davies well from my time at Hull and he’s someone I have kept in touch with since leaving," Chester told RamsTV. "The others that I know are through just playing against them and they seem to be the right kind of people and character when I’ve come up against them. The signing of Conor Hourihane as well, he’s someone I know really well. I was at his wedding less than two weeks ago and I’m excited to be reuniting with him also.
