Hull City boss gives Reading assessment after Keane Lewis-Potter guides Tigers to home win

Shota Arveladze felt his Hull City side were worthy of a convincing 3-0 success over Reading on Saturday, a result which secured the Royals' safety in the Championship following Peterborough United's home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

A terrific brace from Keane Lewis-Potter and a first Tigers goal for Alfie Jones saw City record their biggest home win of the season, and make it successive home wins for the first time under the Georgian boss.

Arveladze also felt the conditions did not aid his desire to see his team play a fast-paced brand of football, with a relatively flat opening 40 minutes brought to life when Lewis-Potter powerfully opened the scoring from a George Honeyman pass.

"It's not very often that we get a result like that in front of our supporters," he told Hull Live. "We've struggled in the past at home, so it was good to have a performance like that with three goals and send our fans home happy.

"If somebody could choose a way to end the season at home, it would be like this with two straight victories.

"It's pleasing to see the effort the boys put in, and for the fans to turn out as they did and see that performance when the league is basically already done for us, it was a good three points. Three goals, a good performance, I'm happy.

"Maybe the pitch got a little dry because of the sun and the wind, so that could have played a part in us being a little bit sloppy (before the first goal). generally, we did OK in the first half and had the game under control. We didn't give too much away at the other end, and with the clean sheet, I'm pleased."
