Hull City ‘officially request’ Fenerbache and Turkey star Ozan Tufan as Ilicali uses contacts

Hull City’s interest in Fenerbache man Ozan Tufan has resurfaced after reports that Turkish owner Acun Ilicali has ‘officially requested’ the midfielder. The 27-year-old was linked with a move to the MKM Stadium back in April after it became clear that the Turkish club would let him leave, and now reports suggest that an official offer has been made.

Tufan spent a part of last season in the Premier League with Watford but failed to make a significant impact at Vicarage Road, making just nine appearances before his loan was cut short in January and he returned to his parent club. The midfielder is one of several links with players in the Turkish Super Lig after the Tigers signed Iranian forward Allahyar Sayyadmanesh on loan from Fenerbache in January.

And now Turkish outlet ajansspor has reported that Ilicali has ‘officially requested’ Tufan’s services from the Super Lig giants.

“Announcing that he will make transfer moves to take Hull City to the Premier League next season, Acun Ilıcalı wants to make the first reinforcement from Fenerbahçe.” They wrote.

“Ilicali, who is known to be a Fenerbahçe fan and very close to President Ali Koç, set his sights on Ozan Tufan, who was excluded from the Yellow and Dark Blue team. The Hull City team, which is experiencing the lack of two-way players in the midfield, seems to have the solution in Ozan Tufan and it is expected that there will be hot developments in the coming days.”

Tufan flopped at Watford during the first-half of the season, but he has shown more than enough pedigree to be a valued addition at City. The midfielder has played over 180 games for Fenerbache, scoring 21 goals and picking up 24 assists. He has European pedigree in the Europa League and Champions
