Hugo Ekitike to Man United transfer bombshell emerges amid Victor Osimhen stance on move

Manchester United fans will be keeping a close eye on the summer transfer window following a disappointing season.

Ruben Amorim's side concluded the 2024/25 campaign with their worst-ever Premier League finish (15th), compounded by a loss in the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur. However, they did manage to secure their first home league victory since February with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the final day.

The Reds now face one of their most pivotal transfer windows in recent memory, with Matheus Cunha being unveiled as United's first summer signing of 2025. Several strikers are also being linked with a move to Amorim's team, including Hugo Ekitike, Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen.

United have reportedly entered the race for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. Sky Germany, via Sky Sports, claim that the Reds are exploring the conditions of a potential deal for the 22-year-old forward.

Frankfurt are said to be demanding around £85 million (€100m) for Ekitike, who has four years left on his deal.

Isaac Seelochan of the Manchester Evening News says: "Ekitike would be an excellent signing, however, I have my doubts over whether he would want to join United in their current state. Clubs in the Champions League are interested and who knows when the Reds will be back in that competition again.

"His reported price tag is also excessive and there are likely to be cheaper options available."
