"Huge blow" - Journalist drops worrying verdict after update on Wolves trio

The prospect of being without Ruben Neves, Pedro Neto and Raul Jimenez is a “huge blow” for Wolves, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The £87.3m-rated trio all suffered setbacks recently and are facing time on the sidelines through suspension and injury.

Not only did Wolves squander a 2-0 lead in what proved a damaging result to their hopes of playing in Europe next season, but Bruno Lage lost some of his most important players.

Firstly, Neves sustained damage to his knee after 25 minutes and was forced off and replaced by Trinaco. The Barcelona loanee did assist Jonny within minutes before scoring his first goal in Wolves colours soon after, but his introduction came at a cost.

Having been assessed by the medical staff, the Midlands outfit confirmed that Neves will be ruled out until May, meaning he’s set to miss the next four Premier League fixtures.

Wolves’ evening went from bad to worse when Raul Jimenez was sent off for two bookable offences, the second following a collision with Leeds goalkeeper IIIan Meslier.

Usually, the Mexican would miss just the one game, but given that it’s his second red card of the season will see him sit out the home game with Aston Villa and the trip to Newcastle on Friday week.

Meanwhile, Neto has been absent from the last two games after only recently returning from a long-term knee problem.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It’ll be a huge blow if they’re missing those three games for a few weeks. Raul Jimenez is obviously Wolves’ main striker and he’s definitely out for the next few games.”
