Huddersfield Town told to keep three and release four players reaching end of deals

Huddersfield Town supporters have had their say on which soon-to-be out-of-contract players’ deals they would like to see extended rather than allow them to leave the club this summer. Over 500 people responded to the survey on the YorkshireLive website after we gave our own views – and your analyses match up perfectly with ours.

The most overwhelming response in favour of retention came for Harry Toffolo, who would be retained by some of fans. The left-back has been a consistent and popular performer since arriving in January 2020 and recently expressed his hope to see his contract situation resolved soon, even if only in the form of a one-year renewal.

Likewise, fans are hopeful that Josh Koroma’s proposed new deal can be tied up before long, with of Town supporters voting to keep the winger despite his being unable to match his goalscoring exploits of last season. As with Toffolo, talks over that new contract were opened at the start of the season but there has yet to be any further update since.

Two short-term January arrivals get the nod from supporters for an extended spell, with keen to see midfielder Carel Eiting at the club for a third season next year and feeling Jamal Blackman’s two FA Cup outings were nice and tidy enough for him to stay on as Lee Nicholls’ deputy past the summer.

On the other end of the scale, just of fans would hand a new deal to midfielder Alex Vallejo, who had his one-year extension triggered last year but has spent most of this season out with a knee injury; and only would dangle a new contract in Naby Sarr’s direction.
