Huddersfield Town chance could open up for Rolando Aarons after injury comeback

Huddersfield Town have been handed several new injury blows over the past few weeks but one long-standing attacking absentee is hoping to make his comeback before the end of the season after nearly six months out. Carlos Corberan has recently been without Matty Pearson (knee), Danny Ward (hamstring), Levi Colwill (hip), and – for the first time this season – Sorba Thomas, who picked up a knee injury against Middlesbrough on Easter Monday and has subsequently seen a specialist about the injury.

When the Welsh international will be able to return is currently unclear – but just as he has been ruled out, fellow winger Rolando Aarons has announced his hopes of getting involved in the Terriers side again over the remaining games.

Aarons joined from Newcastle United last January but has struggled with injuries and found himself out of Corberan’s plans even when fit earlier this season. His one and only outing of the current campaign was an eight-minute substitute appearance away to Barnsley in December, less than two weeks after which he suffered a knee injury that required surgery.

The 26-year-old has been back on training pitch recently, however, and he shared a picture of himself in action at Canalside to Instagram over the weekend, saying: “Pushing to hopefully play a part in the last bit of the season, much needed minutes and buzzing to be back out on the pitch!”

Town were left short of wide options during Friday’s 2-1 win over Barnsley with Thomas ruled out following that knock he picked up against Middlesbrough, Josh Koroma absent with a ‘slight hamstring complaint’, and Danel Sinani departing at the break after ‘feeling something in his adductor’. Duane Holmes and Lewis O’Brien completed the game on the flanks.
