Huddersfield Town announce another pre-season friendly with Yorkshire derby booked in

Huddersfield Town will face Harrogate Town in a pre-season friendly for the second time in as many years as they gear up for the impending 2022/23 season.

Harrogate visited Canalside last July with Josh Koroma scoring the only goal of a game that featured a unique Terriers XI in each half, and the two sides will face one another again this summer,

This time Huddersfield will make the trip to North Yorkshire, with the League Two side will host Carlos Corberan's team on Saturday 16th July in a noon kick off.

The two sides have never played one another in a competitive game (to the best of our knowledge, at least) but there are connections between the two sides in the shape of Josh Austerfield and Brahima Diarra, who both spent the second half of last season on loan at Wetherby Road.

Harrogate Town finished 19th in the fourth tier last season, a comfortable 15 points clear of relegated Oldham Athletic and 27 ahead of bottom side Scunthorpe United.

The Terriers meanwhile fell agonisingly short of promotion to the Premier League after finishing third in the Championship and reaching the play-off final before the only goal of the game went Nottingham Forest's way.

Huddersfield revealed on Wednesday morning that they will head to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday 23rd July, one week before the Championship season gets under way. The campaign starts earlier than usual to help make room for a mid-season break around the 2022 World Cup.
