Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United form will be meaningless in Championship clash

Carlos Corberan insists the form book will mean nothing to either his side or the visiting Blades when the two teams go head to head in Saturday’s 12:30pm kick off.

Huddersfield Town are unbeaten in their last 13 games in all competitions while Sheffield United will be looking for their fifth straight win.

This Yorkshire derby is a massive fixture for both sides as they look to show their promotion pushes deserve to be taken seriously.

An away win would cut the gap between the two sides down to just a single point with United holding three games in hand; but a victory for the Terriers would ensure they end the weekend still in the playoff places and extend their gap to the tenth-placed Blades to seven points.

Corberan commented on what could be a titanic tussle: “It doesn’t matter if you arrive in good form or not. The past is not going to work for them, the past is not going to work for us.

“The only important thing is how we face the different moments we’re going to have and the only thing I can guarantee you is that the game will be really really demanding.

“Every time we play against Championship teams it’s going to be very demanding, but maybe the difference is that it’s a game with less recovery time from the previous game.

“I think when a team plays Wednesday night and has to play on Saturday at 12:30 is when the body has to play the game with the least number of hours [in between], so that will be the challenge we have too.”

Sheffield United also played on Wednesday evening, though, claiming a 2-0 win over ten-man West Brom, so Corberan acknowledges that the two sides should at least come into this game in similar physical condition.

Asked if the congested schedule might mean the technical side of the game
