Huddersfield, Chelsea deal close after one offer rejected

Huddersfield Town have seen a loan offer for Chelsea 18-year-old Harvey Vale rejected but Tino Anjorin is set to join the Terriers instead, according to The Athletic.

Blues loanee Levi Colwill has thrived on loan at the John Smith’s Stadium this season – helping Carlos Corberan’s side compete for a play-off place – and it seems the Yorkshire club are hoping to take advantage of the Premier League outfit’s deep well of young talent again.

The Athletic has reported that Anjorin will join Huddersfield on loan after seeing his spell at Lokomotiv Moscow cut short.

However, it is understood that the Championship club initially made a loan offer for Vale but it was rejected as Thomas Tuchel wants to be able to use the highly-rated teenager in the second half of the season.

The attacking midfielder is said to be in contention for the FA Cup tie with Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

The Verdict

This is bittersweet for Huddersfield, who may have missed out on Vale but look set to land Anjorin.

They’re still strengthening in attacking midfield and it may be that the step down to Championship level is just what he needs to prove himself at senior level after a disappointing loan move to Lokomotiv Moscow.

It’s not a huge surprise that another Chelsea youngster has joined up with the Terriers given how impressive Colwill has been since joining the club in the summer.

This addition could be massive for the club’s hopes of promotion, particularly given the impressive moves that their play-off rivals have been making in the January window.
