How Will Vaulks addition could help aid Darren Moore's current Sheffield Wednesday midfield headache

With Sheffield Wednesday currently posing a keen interest in former Cardiff City man Will Vaulks, Darren Moore's current midfield problems could be eased slightly should the Owls complete the signing later this month.

Vaulks, 28, has been linked with a move to Wednesday in the past following on from his Rotherham United exit back in 2019. A tidy midfield option, Moore is still also waiting to hear back on a decision regarding Massimo Luongo's future too.

Featuring 40 times for the Bluebirds last season, the midfielder largely operated in the centre of the park and has strong experience in both England's second and third tier's respectively.

With Luongo himself a mainstay throughout the Owls run to the play-offs during the 21/22 campaign, many fans have questioned the 29-year-old's intentions. Insisting just weeks ago it was time to 'rest up', players including Barry Bannan issued their own desires for the former QPR man to remain in S6.

Vaulks wages at present are said to be the only stumbling block, reported to be earning close to £26k per week with City last season. It has been confirmed he will leave Cardiff at the end of the month.

Also linked with a return to the Millers along the way given his previous spells at the club, the Owls will be keen to try and wrap up their business early heading into next season, with the obvious aim once more a return to the Championship following the play-off disappointment last time out.
