How Wigan loan spell shaped Manchester United star Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire has revealed he still looks back fondly on his loan spell with Wigan Athletic ahead of their clash with Manchester United in the FA Cup on Monday night.

The England international made 16 appearances for the Latics during a loan spell in 2015 and he believes his short time at the club helped shape him into the player he is to this day.

Maguire, who was then a Hull City player, made a positive impact at the DW Stadium and went on to shine for Hull and Leicester in the Premier League before he sealed his high-profile move to Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old will be watching from the stands as United face his former side in the third round on Monday night and ahead of the match, he has been looking back at his time with Wigan.

“No, it was amazing. I only had two or three months there,” Maguire told TeamViewer Diaries. “The fans really welcomed me; they were amazing with me. I really enjoyed playing for them. It was a difficult time for the club when I went there, but yeah, I have great memories of the club.
