Andy Cole agrees with Manchester United fans on controversial Erik ten Hag transfer approach

Manchester United have been linked with a move for defender Matthijs de Ligt this summer.

Raphael Varane has entered the final six months of his contract and some feel Harry Maguire could be sold, which means it's likely United will need to strengthen at centre-back. Lisandro Martinez returned from injury against Tottenham earlier this month and it seems someone, a high-quality defender, will be signed to start alongside him.

Victor Lindelof will continue to be a back-up option and there is a case to give Jonny Evans a one-year extension, but that doesn't mean another player in that position won't be required.

Reports in Germany suggest United are interested in Bayern Munich's De Ligt and Andy Cole, speaking to Betfred, has said what most fans think about those links.

"Yes it would [worry me] because if he’s had tough times at both Juventus and Bayern Munich, then how can you suggest that he will be a success at Manchester United?" Cole said.
