How Scotland can still land Euro 2024 pot one status and secure dream draw in bid to be national record breakers

The November camp will be a good one for Scotland as we head in to it knowing that, whatever happens, we are going to Euro 2024.

A double-header of Georgia away and Norway at home would have inspired nerves in even the most calm and collected of the Tartan Army, but five wins from six have been enough to send us to Germany with two games to spare. But that doesn't mean it's party time for Steve Clarke and his team as there is work left to be done.

Finishing on a high will be big for momentum but our results in the last two games could also go a long way to defining how we do at the finals when they roll around in June. The draw, which takes place on December 2, will be heavily influenced by the overall points totals - group winners are in with a chance of joining the hosts in Pot 1 and the rest will jostle for position in the lower pots.

But can Scotland still go in as a top seed? And if not, what do we need to make sure we rank as high as possible? Record Sport has you covered.

It's the dream and it's why the more steely-nerved among the Scotland fans would have been quite happy to see Erling Haaland rattle in a late equaliser against Spain on Sunday night. A Spanish win sent us to the tournament but had Norway taken something, it would have left winning the group within our own hands.

Only the best five group winners will join Germany in Pot 1 and Scotland currently sit level on Spain with 15 points after six games each. The head-to-head between the two teams is equal, so we either need to overturn the goal difference deficit of six or count on a Spanish stumble against Georgia or Cyprus.
