How Matheus Nunes and Eberechi Eze offer Man City two very different transfer options

After securing the signing of Rennes’ winger Jeremy Doku, Manchester City are still looking active in the transfer market with the club showing interest in both Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and Wolverhampton Wanderers' Matheus Nunes.

City’s attention has been switched towards the two players following the news that their interest in Lucas Paqueta had cooled. The West Ham United midfielder is currently being investigated for potential betting breaches.

Out of the two midfield options, which one suits the requirements of a City midfielder best? MEN Sport have analysed the two individuals, comparing their strengths and weaknesses alongside what Pep Guardiola already has at his disposal.

City are yet to submit an official bid for 25-year-old Eze, but have reportedly been told that they must offer Palace £70m to tempt the club to give up their talent. This comes as no surprise considering the south London club have already lost star player Wilfried Zaha to Galatasaray this transfer window.

As for Nunes, the Blues' have already reportedly had a £47m opening bid rejected by Wolves, with the offer only £5m more than the club paid for his transfer from Sporting Lisbon last summer. City however are said to be wanting to close the deal within the next 48 hours, preparing to lodge another bid for the Portuguese.

Eze is a more attack-minded midfield player with the Palace number 10 often taking up the traditional role of his shirt number. For both of the Eagles' opening games of the season, Eze has occupied the area in behind striker Odsonne Edouard.
