How Manchester United should line up vs Lyon in pre-season friendly

Manchester United compete in their second pre-season friendly against Lyon in Edinburgh on Wednesday afternoon.

United began their pre-season with a 2-0 victory against Leeds in Oslo last week and Erik ten Hag, who picked a relatively strong starting line-up before making wholesale changes, is expected to approach the game in a similar manner.

The club's players who featured in the international fixtures held in mid-June, like Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro, have now reported for training but will not be involved ahead of flying out to New York for the start of the US tour.

Jonny Evans could be involved though after returning to the club on a short-term deal for pre-season. Antony, Fred and Donny van de Beek have travelled but Tyrell Malacia and Rhys Bennett have been ruled out through injury.

Although the remaining first-team stars have been in training for a few days, I'd make just one change from the side that started against Leeds in Oslo last week, with Antony coming into the fold for Omari Forson.

The Brazilian is one of the few new additions to the squad following the trip to Oslo and should start as a first-teamer on the right of attack. That would see Amad play a central role with Sancho moved out to the left.

Mainoo and Hannibal were the standout performers in the opening pre-season clash and hopefully they can impress again.
