How did my MP vote in the Rwanda bill?

The latest plans to send some asylum seekers to Rwanda was approved in the House of Commons last night (January 17) with most MPs supporting the emergency bill. Rishi Sunak survived the threat of a right-wing Conservative rebellion, securing a majority of 44.

The Prime Minister said this morning (January 18) that it is up to the House of Lords to decide whether they want to 'frustrate the will of the people' or 'get on board and do the right thing'. It comes after Tory rebels tried - but failed - to make changes to the legislation.

The second reading of the Safety of Rwanda Bill in December saw around 24 Conservatives MPs choose not to vote for Mr Sunak's flagship deportation legislation, including Bolton West MP Chris Green. Speaking to the M.E.N. following that decision in December, the Tory MP said that the bill needed to be 'tightened up further' to avoid loopholes being exploited in a bid to stop deportations.

No vote was recorded for Bury South MP Christian Wakeford or Stalybridge and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds. Sir Tony Lloyd, who represented the Rochdale constituency but sadly died on Wednesday morning (January 17), is also listed as 'no vote recorded'.

Mr Reynolds, who is Labour's shadow business and trade secretary, is currently in Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. To find out how your MP voted in the Rwanda debate last night, type in the name of your constituency or your
