How Celtic blew Treble in 3 easy steps as blundering Brendan Rodgers feels Hotline heat

You'd think that having won 29 out of the last 45 domestic trophies, Celtic might be afforded a bad day at the office. Think again…

Brendan Rodgers' side let what would have been an astonishing sixth Treble in the space of nine short years slip from their grasp at Hampden.

But while some Hoops supporters were willing to offer congratulations to Aberdeen on their Scottish Cup success, other Hotline callers weren’t quite so magnanimous in defeat.

Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, was first up to point fingers as he said: “That was a hugely disappointing performance from Celtic with so much at stake. And Brendan Rodgers has learned two valuable lessons to take into next season. Firstly Viljami Sinisalo should be handed the gloves and secondly Daizen Maeda must now be played through the middle on a permanent basis as Adam Idah’s link up play lets him down. I also believe that if Kyogo is open to a return, Rodgers should throw the kitchen sink at it. Why risk top dollar on his replacement when he might not fit into Celtic's style of play?”

Fraser Davison, Glasgow, rang in to say: “How to lose a treble in 3 easy steps: First, turn up thinking it’s in the bag against a team we gave a hiding to with the same team a week ago, display no fight, aggression and damn little skill. Secondly, have a manager who takes £22million worth of talent off and sticks on the likes of Yang Hyun-jun who couldn’t pass a ball 10 yards. And thirdly, employ the sideways and backwards passing that only wastes time and slows momentum while forgetting you are actually allowed to shoot now and again! It was a shocking display all round and the manager is not blameless. Celtic have been poor in the last quarter of the season but they might not be so lucky next
