How Carlos Corberan has transformed Huddersfield Town as Sheffield United face serious test

Today's Yorkshire derby between Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United promises to be a really tight affair.

Both sides are in red-hot form right now.

Town are up to fifth in the Championship table and through to the fifth round of the FA Cup off the back of a 13-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

The Blades arrive on an incredible run of their own, winning eight of their last 10 league matches and seven from nine under Paul Heckingbottom.

Town won the reverse fixture earlier in the season at Bramall Lane 2-1 courtesy of a stoppage-time winner.

But what can we expect this time round and what has been the key to the Terriers' impressive form this season?

To get the inside track on today's opponents, we spoke to our Huddersfield Town colleague Steven Chicken, who explains the reason behind Carlos Corberan's success.

"Much better recruitment for a start, with the last of their remaining high-earning non-contributors from their poor Premier League recruitment leaving in the summer to be replaced by players who actually want to be there and are capable of doing a job in the Championship.

"The defensive record has been much improved with goalkeeper Lee Nicholls - himself having a sensational season - keeping the joint-most clean sheets in the Championship, aided by an entirely new-look back line.

"They've also been able to hold on to the players from the past couple of seasons who have been good, like Lewis O'Brien, Jonathan Hogg, Harry Toffolo and Josh Koroma; while others who were bit-part players last season like Sorba Thomas and Danny Ward have come good and are among their top stars."
