Hotline shocker as Rangers nemesis Gordon Ashley raves about Ibrox glory before sending Celtic warning

It takes something special for Hotline wind-up merchant Gordon Ashley to dish out praise to Rangers.

But having blown away Borussia Dortmund, even Gers’ Ayr assailant couldn’t shy away from the magnitude of the result at Ibrox which sees Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team march on as Scotland’s sole remaining representative on the continent after Celtic were left frostbite in the Artic Circle.

There were plenty Rangers fans ringing in to ask what Mr Ashley was saying now having written off the Ibrox side’s chances last week.

Fair play, he was first on to respond, even if it was through gritted teeth.

The Celtic fan said: “Well done to Rangers it was genuinely a great result for Scottish football and well deserved over both legs.

“Some Celtic fans should lay off the manager as well, he did what most Celtic fans I know wanted him to do with his team selection against Bodo/Glimt and they won’t be moaning if he picks up all three points at Easter road in a vital match on Sunday."

George Wilson, West Sussex, was one of the Bears quick to pounce on the tormenting, saying: “Gordon Ashley was telling us last week it was only half time and Rangers had won nothing yet against a weakened Dortmund.
