Horizon Forbidden West: Leaker suggests potential third game is coming

Horizon Forbidden West has been a critical darling since its release on PS5, with the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn charting Aloy’s latest journey across the vast landscape created by Guerrilla Games.

It has been somewhat overshadowed by the release of From Software’s incredible open-world RPG Elden Ring, but the Horizon sequel has done exceptionally well in terms of critical reception.

Forbidden West currently has a score of 88 on Metacritic, while it also has a user score of 8 from 8,359 ratings.

And now it appears that there could be a third instalment on the way if a new leak is to be believed.

Oops Leaks on Twitter reports that Horizon is set to be a trilogy, and that the upcoming VR spin-off, titled Horizon: Call of the Mountain, is just the start of the universe expanding.

The third Horizon game has yet to have a title, nor any kind of plot, and Oops Leaks claims that there are set to be a number of expansions within the universe.

Speaking on Twitter, they said: “Horizon will be a trilogy and its universe is already expanding with VR spinoff and more to come. Online standalone game or expansion is planned. Probably something close to Monster Hunter World. Sony considers Horizon one of the main PS franchises at the moment.”

It remains to be seen if the online standalone game mentioned will be the final game in the trilogy, or if there is set to be a full release of the third Horizon game.

Monster Hunter World, which Oops Leaks has compared the new game to, is one of the biggest and best-reviewed games in recent years.

It was released in 2018 on PS4, PC, and Xbox One and the PS4 release gained a 90 score on Metacritic from 93 reviews, with 89 positive scores.
