Hopes high for Dumfries and Galloway winner on RSAC Scottish Rally

Hopes are high of a home winner as the RSAC Scottish Rally heads to the Stewartry for the first time.

Castle Douglas’ Jock Armstrong goes into the event leading the KNC Groundworks Scottish Rally Championship standings in his Subaru Impreza.

He’ll be joined once again by co-driver Hannah McKillop, the pair seeded third in the running order.

Dumfries’ Mark McCulloch is third in the championship and he’ll once again have Michael Hendry on the notes in his Proton Satria.

Angus Lawrie from Castle Douglas is currently fourth, Annan’s Paul Gribben third in the co-driver standings as the pair look for more success in their Mitsubishi Evo 9.

Dalbeattie’s Iain Wilson, who owns the rally’s new base, will be competing in his home event in a Ford Fiesta Rally2 with Chris Williams. And Scott Peacock from Castle Douglas will be joined by Craig Wallace in his Evo 8.

Jim Robertson from Penpont and Mike Curry from Thornhill top the Haddo Energy Super Seniors in their Ford Escort Mk2.

Mk2s are also the weapon of choice for Dumfries pair David Hardie and John McCulloch as well as the crew of Bridge of Dee’s Donald Peacock and Dumfries’ Mairi Riddick.

Class Pro2 features the Peugeot 208 of Dumfries’ Peter Stewart and Harry Marchbank and the similar car of Richard Stewart of Dumfries and Carin Tait-Logan.

Dumfries’ Robert Proudlock tops the Moates Offshore Juniors entry in his Opel Adam.

Dalbeattie’s Scott Gourlay and Castle Douglas’ Greg Alcorn will be competing in C2 in a Peugeot 205.

Dumfries’ Niall Cowan Jnr is in M1 in a MG ZR with Charley Sayer Payne, with Niall Cowan of Dumfries and Chris Wareham in C1 in an MG.

And Stranraer pair Martyn Erskine and Kieran Hyslop will be battling for M2 honours in their C2 R2.
