Honest Philippe Clement tells Rangers fans it's NEVER been this bad but he won't 'run away' from fight
Under siege Rangers boss Philippe Clement says he won’t walk away from the toughest period of his managerial life.
The Ibrox gaffer is feeling the heat after last week’s catastrophic Scottish Cup defeat to Queen’s Park. A large section of the Gers support wanted the Belgian sacked after being humiliated by the Spiders. But Clement has vowed to fight on.
He says the result has made the task at Rangers the most difficult of his career so far. But Clement is adamant that he can get through it and make the club a force again in Scottish football When asked if this was now his hardest spell in management, he said: “Yes it is. And for sure, it’s because of this game (Queen’s Park). To lose that game, it was the most freaky one of my career.
“And because of that, with all the reaction afterwards, yes it’s the toughest moment I’ve had until now. But I’m not running away from it.
“Is this pressure different to anything I’ve experienced before? No, I don’t think so. It was the same at Club Brugge where you need to win every game. But I didn’t have freaky results like the one I’ve had now. And I understand the anger around it.”
For now, Clement has the backing of the Ibrox board and new CEO Patrick Stewart - despite the embarrassing Scottish Cup exit. Stewart told the media on his arrival at the club that sacking a manager can sometimes be the easy option when things go wrong. And Clement appeared to back up his boss by suggesting a change of coach WON’T turn the club’s fortunes around.
He said: “I don’t know if it’s the easiest decision. But it (changing manager) needs to make things better. You can change, change, change. But the board knows what’s being done here every day with the squad and within the club. And in that way, you
