Holders Cork face Galway test as camogie All-Ireland draws take place

O'Duffy Cup holders Cork will once again face Galway in the group stages as the draw for the 2024 Glen Dimplex All-Ireland championship pitted them against each other.

The Tribe County won last year's group encounter but Cork recovered to go all the way, beating Galway in the semi-final, en route to securing their 29th All-Ireland title. The pair are joined by Down, Wexford, Clare and Dublin in Group 2.

Beaten All-Ireland finalists Waterford will be in Group 1 alongside last year’s intermediate champions Derry, Tipperary, Limerick, Antrim and Kilkenny.

There is a new format in place for the 2024 group stages with two groups of six instead of three groups of four. Last season, two of the three group winners advanced straight to the semi-final with the third, randomly selected, having to go to the quarter-final stage.

Six teams will again qualify from the groups but all group winners are now guaranteed a semi-final spot with the second and third placed teams advancing to the quarter-finals. The intermediate championship will follow the same format.

At intermediate level, newly-promoted Clare are in Group 1 along with Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Galway and Cork.

Group 2 will feature Meath, who lost last year’s final to Derry after a replay, Kilkenny, Carlow, Kildare, Kerry, Dublin and Antrim.

Armagh, who lost two of the last three premier junior finals, will hope to make amends and start in a group with Tipperary, Tyrone, Down and Wicklow, who won the 2023 Nancy Murray Cup.

Group 2 will see Laois, Roscommon, Cavan, Louth, Mayo and Limerick competing.

At premier junior level, the top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals.
