Hibs: Total season-ticket sales revealed as club avoids hangover from disappointing 2021/22 campaign

The Easter Road side halted sales at 5pm on Monday, by which point they had shifted 11,670 season books.

Season-ticket prices were frozen at 2021/22 early-bird levels for the current campaign, as the club announced their intention to pay back fans for their dedication and support, ‘during what has been a difficult financial climate over last couple of years’ as well as including optional bolt-ons granting further perks to supporters.

Last year’s total edged just over the 11,000 mark despite the team finishing ‘best of the rest’ in the Scottish top flight for the first time in 15 years and qualifying for the Europa Conference League, although the Covid-19 pandemic and uncertainty over spectator numbers at matches undoubtedly had an impact as well.

But any feel-good factor left over from the 2019/20 campaign rapidly dissipated as the Easter Road side embarked on a disastrous run of form that culminated in manager Jack Ross being relieved of his duties despite taking Hibs to the final of the Premier Sports Cup.

Successor Shaun Maloney lasted just four months and failed to secure a place in the top six, as well as losing consecutive Edinburgh derbies to Hearts including a Scottish Cup semi-final defeat.

But the appointment of Lee Johnson in May appears to have galvanised Hibs fans to return in greater numbers than last season, despite a lack of continental games and the ongoing cost of living crisis.
