Helen Skelton supported by fans as she shares fresh look at next career move after quitting radio job

Helen Skelton has given fans an update on her next career venture after quitting her job in radio last month. The TV and radio host had a regular slot presenting BBC 5 Live every Sunday morning, but recently stepped down to focus on her children.

The mum-of-three announced that she would no longer be presenting the 10am to 12pm slot, which she took over from Laura Whitmore in August last year, as she wanted to spend more time with her young children. Helen co-parents her three children Ernie, 8, Louis, 6, and daughter Elsie Kate with her ex-husband and rugby player Richie Myler, who announced their split in April last year.

Signing off on her final show on August 13, Helen appeared emotional as she told her listeners it was a 'needs must'. The Countryfile host admitted she had been struggling to juggle the job alongside caring for her three children. "The juggle is real," she said, adding: "There is an eight-year-old with a sideline who needs me."

Closing off the show, Helen said: "I've loved every minute of the past year ... thank you to all the team and thank you to all of you. It's hard to know what to say without getting emotional!"

Since splitting from her partner last year, the former Blue Peter host has already ventured out into other fields after appearing as a contestant on the last series of Strictly Come Dancing. Helen was paired with professional dancer Gorka Marquez and made it all the way to the final of the BBC One dance contest in December, saying she had “found her confidence on the dancefloor”.
