Noel Gallagher fans' misery as cars trapped for TWO HOURS after Wythenshawe Park gig

Hundreds of Noel Gallagher fans were left trapped inside Wythenshawe Park for hours after the show had ended on Saturday night when offiical car parks inside the parkland went into gridlock.

Some 25,000 fans flocked to Wythenshawe Park for the huge homecoming gig from Noel and his High Flying Birds. It was the first ever live gig to be held inside the historic parkland.

But hundreds of motorists who had booked tickets on the official venue car park inside the park were still waiting to leave TWO HOURS after Noel had performed his final song of the night. Cars were seen still being escorted off the site by marshalls at 12.45am.

Organisers of the event had released pre-paid tickets for the official venue car park earlier this month. They went on sale priced at £16.91, with just 1,500 places said to be available for cars inside the park.

Motorists entered the car park off Altrincham Road, driving down a single track route to different fields to park on. Stewards said cars would exit the show on a route further up along Altrincham Road.

Noel finished his set with a triumphant rendition of Oasis anthem Don't Look Back in Anger at 10.45pm. But fans returning to their cars on the site would be in for a long wait - and for many sat in their cars it would be two hours before ANY movement.

One motorist said on social media that they'd "given up and walked home" rather than wait any longer. Others said they feared they would fall asleep inside their cars.
