Hearts transfer news as Yan Dhanda capture has Scott Fraser consequences while Penrice play offers exit hint

After Steven Naismith warned Hearts weren't expecting to be busy in the final week of the transfer window, two potential new additions could be on the way.

In fairness to Naismith, the Jambos are looking beyond January. A pre-contract has reportedly been agreed with Ross County star Yan Dhanda, while Livingston left back James Penrice is also a target for next term. Those who want more game time and don't want to be a Tynecastle could also be moved on, but Naismith isn't planning on losing anyone. As long as that applies to Lawrence Shankland, then punters will be delighted.

Moves are being made to bring Dhanda in before 11.30pm on Thursday when the window shuts. However, Staggies boss Derek Adams has already warned that it will be pointless trying to prise him away from Dingwall before the end of the season. Agreeing a switch to the capital and a chance to at least get some cash for him may change things, although expect Roy McGregor to drive a hard bargain.

That could also have consequences for Scott Fraser. His loan move from Charlton has now been a week in the making, with the attacking midfielder still in Scotland in the hope that the Addicks green light the switch whether they appoint a new manager or not. If signing both is possible, Hearts will try. But time is against them and with Dhanda's arrival set for the summer, it could be now or never for Fraser.

Naismith is well covered at left back and left wing-back for now, which means there's no real need to try and force a move for Penrice. Stephen Kingsley and Alex Cochrane are both good, reliable options for either position, as well as at left centre back.
