'He knows' - Alejandro Garnacho has found perfect response to Manchester United attitude question

Manager Erik ten Hag is pleased with the development of Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, insisting he has earned his trust.

The Argentine has developed quickly for United this season, racking up 37 appearances in all competitions thus far, chipping in with seven goals. He has established himself as a first-team regular, becoming a staple in United's attack.

Garnacho, despite his undisputed potential, had to be patient to earn his first meaningful chance under Ten Hag, failing to earn the opportunities many expected during the first few months of the Dutchman's tenure at Old Trafford. In October 2022, the United boss admitted he had warned the youngster about his attitude after being unhappy with him in the first few weeks of the 2022/23 campaign.

The 19-year-old has since matured on and off the field, resulting in him becoming a key figure in Ten Hag's plans to take the club forward. However, the Dutchman still believes he was right to speak to him about his attitude.

"I think it was necessary, but I would say when you are young that is normal," said Ten Hag. "When you grow into becoming an adult and become more senior, football players have to become an adult very quick.

"You have to take a lot of responsibility. You have to know that, but have to learn that and how you do that. That is a process.

"He is in a good way, he is in a very good direction on that way and he knows in the meantime what it takes, and also why it is necessary and why you need that standard to act as a team to a good level. You achieve the right levels by keeping the focus.
