Hause will be worried about future after Kamara arrival
Kortney Hause signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Aston Villa in January but fell down the pecking order the same month following Calum Chambers’ arrival from Arsenal. And now Villa have signed Boubacar Kamara from Olympique Marseille, the 26-year-old could be pushed out of the matchday squad for good.
Hause has made nine appearances in all competitions this season, amassing fewer than 600 minutes of playing time. Steven Gerrard has preferred Chambers, Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa at centre-back, so the writing has been on the wall for months. Kamara can play in defence and midfield, so his arrival likely seals Hause’s fate.
The 26-year-old has made a total of 55 appearances across the board since joining Villa on loan in January 2019 and permanently in July 2019, scoring four goals. Hause has put in some good performances in his three years at Villa Park, but Mings and Konsa have been on another level as a partnership.
Chambers is providing backup and replaced Konsa during the season run-in, so Hause is basically a last resort. He might be spending 2022/23 on the sidelines if he stays.
