Harry Winks informed of Tottenham transfer decision as Newcastle, Southampton prepare to battle for midfielder

Tottenham central midfielder Harry Winks has been told he has no future at the club and is free to find a new team this summer, as per a report.

Winks made 30 appearances during the recently concluded season, as well as in 2020-21. But that doesn’t tell the full story as he has become less and less important in the first team.

The Englishman didn’t complete a full 90 minutes in the Premier League during the last three months of the campaign.

He is struggling to get into Antonio Conte’s starting lineup due to the form of Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The Italian coach can rely on Oliver Skipp too, although he is currently recovering from injury.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham came to the decision of letting Winks go on Friday.

And Spurs have now told Winks about this, as per Football Insider. As such, they have given the 26-year-old plenty of time to find a new club before the next season begins.

Winks is seen as being ‘surplus to requirements’ to Conte, although Football Insider claim they still want £20million for him.

This clashes with a recent update from the Daily Mail, which said Spurs would hold out for £25m.
