Harry Toffolo, injury returns and hot prospects spotted in Huddersfield Town training session
Huddersfield Town are back on the training pitch for pre-season training ahead of their season opener at home to newly-relegated Burnley on Friday 29th July, and there are a few less-familiar faces pictured getting involved in Carlos Corberan’s first-team training group.
The club have posted a gallery of the first team squad in action at Canalside – or, as we’re now supposed to call it, the Millers Oils High Performance Complex, which to us sounds more like a case study into an outbreak of imposter syndrome on a North Sea oil rig.
Eagle-eyed fans will have spotted and smiling away amid the transfer links to Nottingham Forest – and as expected there’s a few B team players taking part alongside the likes of Jordan Rhodes, Danny Ward and Duane Holmes.
Midfielder and winger were both involved in training sessions over the back end of last season and have both been tipped to get first-team minutes in the season ahead after impressive form for the B team.
Joining them now is 18-year-old who has the opportunity to step up from youth level after Pipa’s departure for Olympiacos. The Northern Ireland international is very highly rated at Town, winning last season’s academy player of the year award, and will now be tasked with challenging Ollie Turton for the right-back spot.
Two players who spent last season out on loan are photographed with the first-team group, too. Centre-back enjoyed an excellent campaign out on loan at Rotherham United, helping them get promoted back to the Championship last season, and will now be hoping to push Tom Lees, Matty Pearson and Will Boyle for a starting place.
