Bolton Wanderers player ratings vs Huddersfield Town - Dapo Afolayan & Kieran Sadlier good
James Trafford - 7
Made great save to deny Kieran Phillips when the score was 0-0, but powerless to stop Danny Ward's opener. Aside from that, made the saves he needed to.
Gethin Jones - 7
Vice captain got forward when he could to support attacks, more threatening after the break. Taken off midway through the second half aftr returning from injury.
Ricardo Santos - 7
Made key interception to preserve deadlock, but beaten in the air by Danny Ward for Huddersfield's opener. Passing off at times but improved as the game went on.
George Johnston - 6.5
Some eye-catching diagonal passes from former Wigan Athletic loanee, but struggled at times defensively against a strong Town team
Conor Bradley - 7.5
Liverpool loanee's first game at the University of Bolton Stadium. Grew into the game after the break in particular and saw second half goalbound shot blocked.
MJ Williams - 7.5
Generally read the game well in the middle of the park and solid in possession as usual.
Aaron Morley - 6.5
Up and down with the ball in the middle for the former Rochdale man. Some nice passing at times.
Declan John - 7
The more productive of Boltons' two wing-backs going forwards. Crossing decisions could have been better at times but looked dangerous when they were on point.
Kieran Lee - 6.5
Did more defensive work in early stages. Started in the number 10 role and some intelligent use of the ball at times. Taken off after an hour.
Dapo Afolayan - 8
The chief creator for Wanderers in the first half with a couple of opportunities and one who caused Town problems. Largely the same after the break and went into number 10 role in second half.
Dion Charles - 7
Quiet start but grew into encounter as it wore on. Perhaps unfortunate not to have won a first
