Harry Maguire makes Man United decision after Jarrad Branthwaite transfer update

Harry Maguire is set to stay put this summer and is determined to fight for his place at Manchester United, according to reports.

The 31-year-old England international, who was sidelined from the Euros due to a muscle injury, has returned to Old Trafford for pre-season training in top shape and ready to play. With only one year remaining on his current contract, it seems certain that Maguire will be in the starting line-up against Norwegian team Rosenborg in United's first friendly match on Monday.

The former Leicester player, who cost United £80million in 2019, spent the off-season continuing his recovery from the injury that kept him out of action during the final stages of last season, including United's FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.

In fact, Maguire even had a United physio accompany him on his holiday in Portugal to oversee his progress and conduct some specific training sessions. This demonstrates the central defender's resolve to work his way back into Erik ten Tag's plans for the 2024-25 season.

This scenario would have been unthinkable a year ago when Maguire, having been stripped of the captaincy, seemed set to leave. However, the Three Lions star appears to be succeeding in his personal mission to persuade Ten Hag that he can still be a valuable member of the squad, reports the Daily Star.
