Harry Maguire has chance to win back Erik ten Hag favour at Manchester United

Harry Maguire has been selected for England in the upcoming October international break. The Three Lions will face Australia in a friendly match before the more significant task of a UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier against Italy.

The Manchester United centre-half has dramatically fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, but with his history of bouncing back in an England shirt, could two solid appearances pose a question to Erik ten Hag?

Southgate has repeatedly shown his trust in the 30-year-old despite not regularly starting for his club over the last few years. All of Maguire's 59 England caps have been awarded by the manager since his debut in 2017 whilst still with Hull City.

There were other defensive omissions from the 26-man squad including Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa, who has been impressive so far this season and is still uncapped for the national team. Maguire endured a torrid time in his last outing with England however, coming off the bench at halftime in the 3-1 win over Scotland, only to provide the Scot's only goal by stabbing the ball into his own net at Hampden Park.
