Virgil van Dijk delivers telling Liverpool message after Manchester United draw

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has urged his teammate Jarell Quansah not to dwell on the error that led to Manchester United scoring a goal in their recent match.

The two Premier League titans clashed at Old Trafford, with Liverpool knowing a victory would put them at the top of the table. However, they could only manage a 2-2 draw, despite taking an early lead through Luis Diaz.

Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo turned the game around for United before a late penalty from Mohamed Salah ensured a share of the spoils. United's first goal came from a shot just inside the Liverpool half, following a misplaced pass from Quansah.

The young player from Anfield's academy was responsible for the errant pass that allowed Fernandes to catch goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher off guard. Nevertheless, Van Dijk defended Quansah during his post-match interview, insisting that he should not be blamed for the team dropping points.

In a conversation with BBC Match of the Day, when asked if Quansah would be affected by his mistake, Van Dijk responded: "He shouldn't. Mistakes happen in football everyone who has a career in football makes mistakes you can only learn from it."

Van Dijk also shared his thoughts on how Liverpool are coping after what they perceive as a missed opportunity. He added: "It feels like a loss, it is our fault again.
