Harry Kane breaks Bayern record 59 years after it was set with hattrick as Bochum are put to the sword

Harry Kane claimed a Bayern Munich record as he smashed in his first hat-trick for the Bundesliga giants.

The former Tottenham man tucked away a treble as Bayern blew Bochum away, sinking them for seven in an Allianz Arena stroll. Former Stoke star Eric Choupo-Moting got the party started after just four minutes before Kane made it 2-0. Matthijs De Ligt netted a third before Leroy Sane had the hosts 4-0 up going into half-time.

Kane bagged a brace from the spot on 54 minutes and Mathys Tel looked to have completed the rout on 81. But Kane had the last word, claiming the match ball two minutes from time. In doing so, he became the Bayern player to score the most goals in their opening five matches for the club. Club legend Muller was the original record setter, with five in his first five a whopping 69 years ago. Miroslav Klose and Mario Mandzukic both matched that with explosive early form for "FC Hollywood," but Kane is now top of the pile after bagging seven in his first five outings.

But the England captain was all about the team afterwards, insisting they made it look easy with their level of performance. He told Sky Sports: "We played well today and had the right mentality. We made it look easy and had so much speed with the ball.

"Everyone was in top form today, it felt very good. I'm getting to know the team better with every game and things are going very well for me and for the team."

Manager Thomas Tuchel added: "We played quickly, with a lot of fluidity. It was a deserved win and a successful day. The way we approached the game was top. We never let off and that was important and a clear step forward. It was a great team effort."
