Hamilton Accies boss has 'a couple of offers in' for new signings, as club seek new additions ahead of league kick-off
Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin has revealed they have a couple of offers in for players, as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of the League One campaign.
The New Douglas Park outfit kick-off on Saturday when they host familiar foes Cove Rangers, a side Accies have followed down from the Championship and whom they drew 2-2 with in the Viaplay Cup group stages last weekend.
And Rankin is still keen to bolster his squad ahead of a second meeting in a week between the teams.
Offers are on the table for players and Rankin admits some of his squad could also be on the way out.
He said: "We still need to strengthen and there are areas we are trying to sort soon.
"We are in August now and it is getting that bit closer to the window closing, so we know what we want to do.
"With that, it might mean one or a few going out.
"We still need players throughout the core of the team.
"We have got good options in the attacking areas and we could still add to that.
"I think we need a centre back because we lost three in the summer with Dan [O'Reilly], Easty [Brian Easton] and Dylan [McGowan] leaving.
"We brought in Lee Kilday but he will need some support.
"We have got an offer in for a couple of players just now - although not centre-backs - and we are waiting for them to come back to us.
"We are being proactive in terms of trying to get them over the line and the offers have been there for a wee bit of time now.
"It's just a case of seeing if we can tie it up at both ends.
"We have been patient - and we still are - but we want to make our side stronger as soon as possible."
