Updated Ireland boss Andy Farrell has 'fingers crossed' for injured hooker Dan Sheehan

Ireland will have their "fingers crossed" over the fitness of hooker Dan Sheehan, who injured his foot in the 29-10 victory over England.

"Dan had a bit of a sore foot," head coach Andy Farrell told RTÉ Sport about the 24-year-old, who won his 18th cap.

"We'll get him checked out and see how that is, so hopefully it's fingers crossed.

"Dan's lost a bit of power in his foot. It seems to be the same old story, doesn’t it?

"We won’t know until we get it looked at, scanned or whatever, so we’ll probably know more in the morning."

Farrell also confirmed that winger James Lowe and centre Bundee Aki passed their head injury assessments.

The New Zealand-born duo clashed heads while attempting a double tackle in the 58th minute.

Lowe was replaced by Keith Earls, who scored Ireland's fifth try on his 100th cap, while Jack Crowley replaced Aki.

The centre later returned to the field in place of out-half Ross Byrne.

Ireland led 12-3 at the break and scored five tries in what was a poor affair against an England side that lost number 8 Billy Vunipola to a red card in the second half.

"It had a bit of everything, good, bad and ugly, really," said Farrell, whose side depart for the south of France tomorrow to prepare for Saturday's final warm-up game against Samoa in Bayonne.

"I wasn't too happy at half time. I thought we had them in a place where we could just try and push a little bit harder and make it a little bit easier for ourselves, but we didn’t.

"We didn’t kick on in the first half, probably because England’s line-out defence was pretty good and we made it a bit scrappy for ourselves.
