Hamilton 5 Annan 0: Clinical Accies go clear of Falkirk with five-star show

Clinical Hamilton Accies marched clear at the top of the table after a five-star win over Annan made it eight games unbeaten in League One.

A stunning solo run and strike inside 90 seconds from Jamie Barjonas was followed by a curling effort from Reghan Tumilty just three minutes into the second half to put Accies well on their way, before Euan Henderson's close range finish, a peach of a goal from Connor Murray and a composed finish from Joe McGlynn put some gloss on the scoreline.

It earned John Rankin's men their biggest win of the season and puts them three points in front of big rivals Falkirk, who play Montrose tomorrow and host Accies in a crunch clash next weekend.

The match had been moved forward from Saturday as part of an experiment to test the draw of Friday night football at New Douglas Park. Just shy of 1400 supporters took in the clash, which is up on the 1200 home fans that took in the last home match against Alloa, and the Accies faithful certainly got their money's worth.

Accies boss John Rankin named the same side that earned a late win at Queen of the South last weekend, with Kevin O'Hara once again leading the line. Annan made one change from their draw at Alloa, as midfielder Chris Johnston came in at the expense of forward James Graham in a more defensive setup.

The Galabankies were on a four-game unbeaten run in the league going into the clash, but their streak came to a halt in Hamilton as they barely laid a glove in their opponents.
