Hairy Bikers star Si King's emotional statement in full as Dave Myers dies by his side aged 66

Si King issued an emotional statement that confirmed the death of his friend and TV partner Dave Myers after being by his side in his final moments. The duo, known as the Hairy Bikers, found fame together as part of the motorcycle-riding cooking duo with their friendship spanning 30 years.

Dave, born in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, first announced he was receiving treatment for cancer in May 2022, but did not specify what type he had been diagnosed with.

He shared the news on an episode of the pair's Agony Uncles podcast and said that he didn't want to 'hide under a rock', but would be away from work and asked fans to 'respect his privacy' as he underwent treatment. He then underwent treatment and welcomed in 2023 by saying cancer was ‘something one learns to live with’.

Confirming his tragic death, aged 66, on Thursday (February 29), a statement from Si on social media said: "I’m afraid I bear some sad news. Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years.

"Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave’s wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home. All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own.
