Green Brigade WILL get Celtic standing section for Women’s matches as club urge ultras to show support

Celtic have responded to the Green Brigade's stinging statement accusing the club of being "vindictive" after being denied a designated standing area at upcoming womens' games.

Elena Sadiku's side will take on SWPL rivals Hibs and Hearts at Celtic Park to try and boost their title chances. The Ghirls are one point behind city rivals Rangers in second and are hoping for a bumper crowd for both games. The Green Brigade had hoped to be able to stand behind the goals in the stadium as part of the gan group's "Celtic End" concept. However, they have decided to boycott the game after being told their desired standing area wouldn't be available due to safety concerns.

The group took aim at CEO Michael Nicholson and CFO Chris McKay. They referenced the recent cancellation of away tickets for the Old Firm SWPL clash at Ibrox, which was also down to safety worries, meaning there were no officials away fans inside the ground for 1-1 draw.

However, Celtic have now confirmed that they HAVE offered an alternative standing section to the group. A club spokesperson said: "The group were made aware that the Jock Stein would not be made available due to certain safety concerns relating to this specific area, but arrangements have been made by the club to allow the group to attend within the rail seating section.

"This has been communicated to the group and the club hopes that as many supporters and supporter groups as possible come along to support Celtic FC Women at the upcoming Celtic Park matches, as well as all other matches.”
