Greater Manchester weather forecast as region celebrates Eid al-Fitr

There could be spots of rain across Greater Manchester which may dampen some Eid celebrations, according to forecasts.

Over the past few days, the city has been treated to a lovely break from the wet and gloomy weather as sunshine blanketed the sky accompanied by warm temperatures. However, today (April 21) will be the last chance this week to catch some rays as temperatures begin to drop and overcast conditions make a comeback.

The Met Office has also predicted a small chance of showery conditions throughout the morning and early afternoon which may catch some people off guard. As many members of Manchester's Muslim community will head outside to perform the special prayers, it may be a good idea to bring a raincoat.

Throughout today, conditions will remain mostly calm with steady temperatures of 11C. The morning will see the highest chances of sunny conditions before clouds begin making their way in. From 11am, there is a 40 per cent chance of precipitation during a sunny interval.

As the early afternoon progresses, there is an increased risk of wet conditions, with heavy rain predicted at 12pm and an 80 per cent chance of precipitation. By 1pm, there will be more sunny intervals and a slightly lower chance of precipitation at 70 per cent.

After this small period of wet weather, conditions are expected to be more settled with overcast and cloudy conditions dominating throughout the rest of the afternoon and evening. The Met Office said: "Rather cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain, though perhaps drier to the north and west, with some sunny spells. Winds strengthening, especially across the higher ground. Feeling cooler than of late."
