FLOOD warnings issued for parts of England amid heavy rain - Greater Manchester weather forecast

Flood warnings have been issued by the Environment Agency for parts of England as heavy rain rolls in following the coronation weekend.

The three flood alerts have been put in force across the country, including the River Rhee in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire; the River Thame and Chalgrove Brook; and the River Whitewater and River Hart.

In Greater Manchester the rain looks set to continue this week, according to the Met Office.

The Met Office has warned that today (May 8) the north west will be: "Cloudy and generally wet on Monday with rain spreading eastwards, occasionally turning heavy. Remaining cloudy, but rain easing later, however showers following into the evening.

"Breezy at first but winds easing through the day. Maximum temperature 17 °C."

Later on this evening, there will be a 'band of cloud and raining clearing eastwards during the evening. " Remaining cloudy with showers following in from the west, some of these heavy at times," continued the Met Office.

"Fairly mild. Minimum temperature 10 °C."

The rest of this week is expected to feature plenty of showers in Greater Manchester. Tomorrow (Tuesday), the Met Office has said: "A cloudy start with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle.

"The cloud lifting with sunny spells and scattered showers, locally heavy developing across the region. Maximum temperature 15 °C."

From Wednesday to Friday, the weather forecaster has said: "Sunny spells and a chance of showers, locally heavy and thundery, on Wednesday and Thursday. Cloudy but drier on Friday, perhaps with the odd shower.
