Great British Bake Off's Prue Leith has 'kept this secret for months' as fans rush to praise star
Channel 4's Great British Bake Off judge Dame Prue Leith was showered with praise after being the second celebrity to be revealed on ITV's The Masked Singer UK.
Viewers were treated to the new series of The Masked Singer UK that aired on Saturday (4th January) and Sunday (5th January) night. 12 new characters took to the stage and scattered clues throughout to help the judges work out who is behind the mask.
This series saw Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross return as judges, whereas previous judge Rita Ora was replaced by Love Island presenter Maya Jama. Olympian Mo Farah joined the panel on Saturday night as guest judge, followed by actress Vicky McClure on Sunday.
The first elimination after a cliff hanger from Saturday night was revealed to be Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway who was dressed up as 'Spag Bol'. After being unmasked, Kate mused: "I can't sing and I kept telling them that, but they said it doesn't matter."
Fast forward to later on in Sunday night's episode, the second unmasking was about to take place. The judges voted to save Bush from being eliminated, which left the audience in anticipation as Pegasus was about to be revealed.
After an intense few seconds, Prue Leith was dramatically unveiled as Pegasus, as she joked: "I’ve never sung a note. I’m tone deaf.
"I have been having lessons and I’ve got slowly able to at least make a noise."
The 84-year-old culinary expert took to her Instagram after the episode aired and wrote: "I have kept this a secret for months, and finally I can sing about it! Probably the most nervous I have ever been but as you know I will try anything once!"
As Pegasus, Prue sang a rendition of Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin' by Gordon MacRae.
