Grealish training plan, Guardiola holiday, return date - Man City outline international break plans

Pep Guardiola will grant his players some time off during the international break if they are not representing their countries - and he will use the opportunity to get away himself.

City beat Newcastle on Saturday to book an FA Cup semi-final spot, extending their unbeaten run to 22 games and keeping their treble hopes alive. The majority of the squad will now join up with their national teams for the final international break before the summer tournaments - although Guardiola warned his squad to be sensible with their workload considering there are no competitive games over the next ten days.

Explaining the plan for the international break, Guardiola said that City will reconvene next Thursday before the Premier League showdown with Arsenal on Easter Sunday.

"I will not watch the [international] games," Guardiola said. "I’m not staying in the Manchester rain – I’ll go to Catalonia to rest for a while.

"We will rest and when we come back on Thursday we’ll see which players survive and which not survive. Hopefully, it's a wish. It's difficult sometimes in that period, keep all the players away from the friendly games for the difficult part of the season. But the schedule is the schedule."

Guardiola wouldn't look too far ahead, citing the busy schedule in April as reason to simply take things game-by-game.
