'There is a chance' - Arsenal give injury update on three key players before Man City fixture

Mikel Arteta has given an update on the fitness of Gabriel Martinelli ahead of Arsenal's Premier League match against Manchester City this weekend. The Brazilian hasn't played since he was injured in Arsenal's 6-0 win over Sheffield United earlier this month.

Initially, his injury was said to be a small cut on his foot, but then Martinelli missed games with Brentford and Porto. After the Champions League win over Porto, the 22-year-old was seen walking on crutches and then pulled out of the Brazil team during the international break.

Martinelli isn't the only player who is a doubt for Sunday's game. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Magalhaes both pulled out of international duty because of injury problems.

"Yeah, there is a chance," Arteta said when asked if the three players could play this weekend. "They haven't trained. Tomorrow we have another session, but there is a chance they can be available."

Manchester City have been dealt a triple injury setback ahead of their match against the Gunners, with Kyle Walker and John Stones confirmed as unavailable for the clash. Manager Pep Guardiola revealed to reporters that both players will miss the match, but added that several team members are now back in training.

"Ederson is much better," he said. "Kyle and John are out."

Ederson had to sit out City's last match due to an injury he picked up in the draw with Liverpool earlier this month.
