Grant McCann sends message to Peterborough United supporters after major club decision
Grant McCann was appointed Peterborough United manager for a second time on Thursday just in time to face his former side Hull City on Saturday.
The Northern Irishman has impressed in spells with Doncaster Rovers and the Tigers since leaving the Posh in 2018 and will be optimistic about turning their fortunes around in the Championship relegation battle.
Darren Ferguson resigned from his position in the dugout after taking just one point from back-to-back matches against Reading and Derby County.
Posh have a game in hand on Derby in 22nd place and are eight points behind Reading in 21st, with 42 points to play for they are by no means down just yet, but it does seem like an uphill battle for McCann to walk into.
McCann won the League One title in 2020/21 and guided Doncaster to the third tier play-offs in 2018/19.
The 41-year-old took to Twitter to express his emotions following the announcement.
He wrote: “Thank you for all the messages, looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
