Gorseinon fire updates as major blaze takes hold of former school building
Fire and rescue service crews have been called to a fire incident in Swansea. Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed a number of their crews are currently dealing with a fire at the former Gorseinon Junior School in Pontardulais Road in Gorseinon.
The derelict building has been described as "well alight" and "fully involved in fire". Crews from Gorseinon, Pontarddulais, Morriston, Swansea Central, Port Talbot, and Pontardawe fire stations have been called to the scene.
In a statement on Friday afternoon a spokesman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 3.04pm on Friday, September 20, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Gorseinon, Pontarddulais, Morriston, Swansea Central, Port Talbot, and Pontardawe Fire Stations were called to an incident at the old Gorseinon School on Pontardulais Road.
"This incident is currently ongoing and crews are responding to a derelict building that is well alight and fully involved in fire. Crews are utilising hose reel jets and breathing apparatus to fight the fire. More information will be released when available."
