Glen Kamara 'requests' Rangers transfer exit as Besiktas move in motion amid pre-season absence

Glen Kamara has reportedly told Rangers he wants a move to Besiktas, as reports suggest the Finnish midfielder is closing in on his Ibrox exit.

The 27-year-old has given the Light Blues more than they bargained for after a coup £50,000 signing from Dundee in 2019 under the tutelage of Steven Gerrard. Kamara proved vital to the Liverpool icon winning the Scottish Premiership and contributed to the side who reached the Europa League final despite a move away from Ibrox not materialising last summer under Gio Van Bronckhorst. New boss Michael Beale admitted all options were being considered for the Finn, who is said to have a £5million price tag on his services should the Glasgow outfit sell him.

Kamara now looks close to sealing a move to Turkey, following in the footsteps of former teammate Ryan Kent, who ended his time at Ibrox with a transfer to Fenerbahce. According to outlet Sozcu, the midfielder 'requested' the opportunity to go to Istanbul and speak with the Super Lig giants. The report also states Besiktas boss Şenol Güneş has already sanctioned the move to go ahead as Kamara fits the profile he is looking for.

The star is not among the players currently enjoying a warm weather training camp with Beale and co in Germany, with transfer sleuths surmising the Finn to be locked in talks over an exit. Negotiations are said to be continuing but the Besiktas coach is keen on Kamara's 'speed, physical strength, dribbling ability and ability to direct the game.' He has a deal in place in Glasgow until 2025.

The two clubs have history as Rangers secured the signing of Ridvan Yilmaz in 2022, a defender that has been linked with a return to his homeland in recent months. The Light Blues shelled out a reported £3.4million fee
